How to play
Use the arrow keys (or WASD), or swipe on a phone, to slide every tile on the board. When two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one with double the value. After every move a new 2 or 4 appears. Reach the 2048 tile to win – then keep going for 4096 and beyond.
Strategy tips
- Pick a corner and keep your largest tile there. Mostly use only two or three directions.
- Keep the top row full. A full row can’t shift sideways, so your big tiles stay put.
- Build a chain of descending values along the edge (1024, 512, 256…) so merges cascade into the corner.
- Don’t chase small merges in the middle of the board; think about where the new tile will appear.

Is there an undo?
Yes, you can undo your last move once. Your game and best score are saved in this browser.
What is the highest tile possible?
On a 4×4 board the theoretical maximum is 131072, but reaching 8192 is already an excellent result.
