Solitaire Turn 3 (Draw 3)

The traditional Klondike: three cards turn over at a time and only the top one can be played.

What changes in Draw 3

Each click on the stock turns three cards onto the waste, and only the top card is playable. Cards buried in the middle of a group only become reachable after the cards above them are played or after the order shifts. That makes Draw 3 harder than Draw 1 and fewer deals can be won, which is exactly why many players prefer it.

Draw 3 strategy

  • Change the order on purpose. If you go through the whole stock without playing a card, the next pass shows exactly the same cards. Playing even one waste card shifts every later group by one and reveals new cards.
  • Work the tableau first. Turning over face-down cards in the columns matters more than playing from the waste.
  • Count your passes. If two full passes show nothing new, look for a tableau move that frees a card instead of cycling again.
  • Use undo to explore. Unlimited undo lets you test a line and go back.
